Design Rationale and Principles

My home page is a virtual extension of my physical and mental self. It should convey as much of my personal information to the viewer as possible. Whether they are my friends, family, potential employers or even strangers, they should all be able to gather some sense of who I am through browsing my home page.

In designing my home page, I created information using the elements in web development. Using the information I gathered:

Target Audience --- friends, potential employers, family

      and

Purpose Statement --- to convey personal information to those who are interested

I started to create and organize a home page that would not only express my creative personality, but also have the necessary information that my target audience would be looking for. I kept everything as brief as possible for I have yet to fully decide on what should and should not be presented on my home page.

My favorite color is green and in my last home page I had a sunflower image that I absolutely adored, so I used those two elements and incorporated them into a theme/backdrop for my new home page. I believe the colors and images would convey the soft side of my personality. The simple font and style I used in laying out my home page should show that I can be clear, precise, and organized.

What concerned me the most was the time it would take for my viewers to load my home page onto their browser. I tried my best to create a page that would not only express the exhuberance that I have (using images), but also be as robust in loading as it could without compromising the artistic value.
